Lost
As I sit at the foot of the tree
Shade covering my sorrow
And the promises
I believed to be true
Yet here I am
Stranded, stupid girl
In a world so cruel
There is always beauty
Its feels as though the black night engulfed me whole
Swallowing me as a shark would a fish
Still I say I am happy
In a world where pain is all I know
Hope
Is the only thing
I have left to hold on to
For here I sit
Broken
As I sit at the foot of the tree
Shade covering my sorrow
And the promises
I believed to be true
Yet here I am
Stranded, stupid girl
In a world so cruel
There is always beauty
Its feels as though the black night engulfed me whole
Swallowing me as a shark would a fish
Still I say I am happy
In a world where pain is all I know
Hope
Is the only thing
I have left to hold on to
For here I sit
Broken
You're so good at poetry! I really like the way you compared the fish and shark thing-y. My only criticism is to make you're stanzas flow (as in sentence fluency). Otherwise, I have no other comments ;)
ReplyDeleteSo moving! You are a great poet. I love your voice in this piece; it sounds as if you took all the pain from your life and put it here. You are a gifted writer!
